Middle Years Maths Tuition for KS3 and GCSE
About Me
I am a qualified, experienced, full-time maths tutor. I've been teaching students in and around Stevenage for 6 years. I am punctual, professional, reliable, and flexible. Lessons can be 60, 90, or 120 minutes, ad-hoc or weekly.
Since 2020 lessons are all online.
I specialise in teaching maths at KS3 or GCSE, foundation or higher levels, years 7 to 11. I help students rebuild confidence, plug knowledge gaps, improve their grades, move to a higher set, and prepare for tests and exams.
Friendly and patient, I consider the needs of the student and coach them to master the subject and achieve their potential. I encourage independent learning and a sense of accomplishment with maths by increasing their understanding of the subject. I help them to succeed and achieve their goals and target grades.
My teaching style is demonstrated through worked examples and explaining difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand way. I make sure they learn and can apply the curriculum topics by working together, answering lots of different maths questions. I usually set practice questions to be done by the student between lessons, to make sure they have understood the lesson, and mark it at the start of the next lesson. I also prepare students for exams by working through past papers and test questions.
My Credentials
I studied maths to degree-level at Brunel University where I graduated with a BSc in Engineering. In the finals, I scored better than 90% on my maths paper. After University, I worked as a training instructor, over many years, at different companies, including Cable & Wireless, so developing my teaching skills.
I have worked as a private maths tutor for 6 years, helping students at KS3 (Key Stage) and GCSE in and around Stevenage. I am familiar with the National Curriculum, have good communication skills, and can explain complex or difficult topics in a clear and easy-to-understand way. I am a good listener, organised, and thorough.
